NDA, Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga said that it will depend upon political necessity and the party has not decided yet and so far MNF is a member of NDA. Mizoram Chief Minister and chief of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) Zoramthanga on Monday said that the state government and the MNF party are not afraid of the NDA government at the centre.
On Tuesday in Aizawl, when asked if MNF will sever ties with NDA he said, “So far the party has not made a consideration for this and it depends upon political necessity. So far we are members of NDA but we totally oppose Uniform Civil Code.” While addressing party workers at Hnam Run (MNF party office) in Aizawl on Monday, Zoramthanga said, “Political parties in India are forming alliances in the name of BJP-led NDA or recently Congress-led INDIA, and MNF is an alliance partner of the NDA.
Though we are with the NDA we do not subscribe to the policies and objects of the NDA.” The chief minister stated that no other party has stoutly opposed proposed UCC in the NDA meetings than the MNF as most of them were only to get on good terms with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mizoram will go to assembly polls by the end of this year.
He said, “The MNF never changes its stance when the government changes at the centre. The party strongly opposed the proposed UCC because the MNF opposed anything that is detrimental to its motto – “For God and the country”.
