Former Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy, who defended Reagan from a gunman, has compared the recent assassination attempt to the Reagan shooting. Talking to the local television channel 'WGN News', he said that it was a plain and simple security failure. He added that when President Regan was shot, that was also a failure.
Explaining the incident that has rocked the world, the former secret service agent said that any time a protectee is harmed, there's something that has to be changed. He said further that it is to be critically looked at what happened, why it happened, and how it can be prevented in the future.

McCarthy said he does not have details of Trump's security arrangement, but said it was likely «darn close» to what President Joe Biden receives.
