Donald Trump in his signature style launched a personal attack on Vice-President Kamala Harris who is also the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic party. He termed the Vice-President as ‘dumb’ and a DEI candidate who has been given a chance by the Democrats to contest the election. DEI stands for Diversity, equity and inclusion. It is a policy followed by leading companies and universities to promote diversity.

This is not the first time the former president has taken on Harris. He has also similarly targeted his other opponents including former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton during the US Presidential Election in 2016. Recent surveys indicate that Trump is trailing behind Harris and this may be one of the reasons why he has launched a personal attack on her.
In any presidential election campaign, Trump is known to attack his opponent not just on the policy front. He often tears into his opponents on a personal level. This includes insults, taunts and mimicry involving his opponents. Analysts opine that it lowers the quality of debate and election campaigns, giving way to acrimony and affecting democracy too.
