«Those who have climbed the ladder of power by using hatred as a political weapon are continuously establishing the reign of fear across the country. Hateful elements hidden in the form of mobs are openly spreading violence, challenging the rule of law,» said Rahul Gandhi in a post on X.
Further talking on the incident, the LoP said attacks on minorities, especially Muslims, are continuing and the government machinery is watching as a mute spectator.
«The authority of law must be established by taking the strictest action against such anarchic elements. Any attack on the communal unity of India and the rights of Indians is an attack on the Constitution, which we will not tolerate at all. No matter how much effort BJP makes, we will win this historic battle to unite India against hatred,» said the Congress leader.
The comments of the LoP comes in wake of incident where an elderly man was allegedly assaulted by his co-passengers in an express train near Igatpuri in Maharashtra's Nashik district on suspicion that he was carrying beef. The GRP has initiated a probe after a video of the alleged incident, which took place earlier this week, surfaced on social media, an official said.
The video shows a dozen people assaulting a man and verbally abusing him inside a train.
According to the GRP, the victim, Haji Ashraf Munyar, a resident of Jalgaon district, was travelling to his daughter's house in Kalyan when he was allegedly beaten up by his co-passengers near Igatpuri on suspicion that he was carrying beef.
