Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation has started trial runs of trains between KR Puram and Byappanahalli stations. Sharing a video of the trial run, Bangalore Central MP, PC Mohan in a tweet said: «The entire east-west Metro corridor will revolutionise travel for passengers, slashing commute times and transforming the very fabric of the city's mobility landscape.» Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation aims to open this KR Puram and Byappanahalli next month and a top official told Times of India that the trial runs could go for around 10 days. «On Wednesday, the single train was operated on the stretch, and we did not face any problem.
We have requested the commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) to inspect the line after August 20 and have started submitting the required documents. We hope to meet the deadline of August to open the line,» the official told Times of India. The distance between KR Puram and Byappanahalli stations is around 2 km and once it is operational, Bangalore Metro is hoping that the daily ridership will go up by 70,000.
The report also said that another small stretch of the Purple Line on Mysuru Road between Kengeri and Challaghatta is likely to be opened by August. The trial run on this stretch is likely to start in three-four days. In March this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line of Bangalore Metro.
