With Barbie, Greta Gerwig has the biggest opening weekend collections for a film made by a woman director. The earlier record was held by Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins for its $103 million opening collections. Moreover, Oppenheimer opened to $4.2 million on Friday, July 21 in UK. Oppenheimer collected £8.05 million in the UK and Ireland over the first weekend. The movie grossed $174.2 million (£135 million) globally. In the US, Barbie made 155 million dollars (£120 million) at the box office from 4,243 cinema halls in North America. In the US and Canada, Oppenheimer made 80.5 million dollars (£62.6 million) at the BO, from 3,610 cinema halls. It marks Nolan’s biggest non-Batman opening. It’s also the first time in US box office history that two movies have opened so well in the same weekend.
