This came six years after Netflix publicly announced in 2018 that Narnia Books will be adapted. In 2023, there were reports that Gerwig will helm the project, as per a report on WhatsOnNetflix. Netflix so far has not divulged any details regarding release date of Narnia movie, or who will feature as main cast.

The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 10, at 4 p.m. PT at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live on ABC.

The acquisition of «Black Barbie» by Netflix and Shondaland has come at a time when the Barbie brand is in the limelight. This is due to the success of Greta Gerwig's «Barbie» movie, which featured Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The film has become the highest-grossing release of the year. It surpassed $1.4 billion in box office earnings.
