According to IMD, Bengaluru and South Interior Karnataka can expect summer showers starting from the second week of April, continuing with thunderstorms until month-end. A Prasad, a senior scientist at IMD Bengaluru, noted, «The rain may commence on Ugadi with light showers in isolated areas, progressing to moderate rainfall during the latter part of the festive week.»
Officials further disclosed that rainfall would be dispersed throughout the city, accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms. Although precipitation may not be uniform across Bengaluru, certain areas are anticipated to receive above-average rainfall.
Despite the forthcoming rainfall, meteorologists caution that heat conditions are expected to exacerbate over the next three days. «Peak heat wave conditions are likely to persist over Bengaluru and adjacent districts,» remarked a meteorologist. Bengaluru registered a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday, surpassing April's average by 3 degrees. Experts predict a slight increase in temperatures over the weekend.
