BioWare to celebrate the Mass Effect series, as they have a new game in development. While no new artwork or trailer was released this year, there was a message from Mike Gamble, the director and executive producer of the Mass Effect franchise.
In his message, he hints at story elements in the upcoming mainline Mass Effect game.
Specifically, Gamble alludes to the new game's connection to the original trilogy by discussing the questions BioWare has been contemplating during the game's development. The blog post presents a list of intriguing questions that the next game might delve into, including the fate of beloved characters, lineage, and the unresolved mysteries from the original trilogy.
Despite the absence of a detailed plot synopsis or premise for the next Mass Effect game, the tone of the post indicates that BioWare intends to provide answers to many questions left unanswered in the original trilogy, which the 2017 Mass Effect Andromeda ignored.
Gamble expresses that BioWare plans to approach the future of the Mass Effect universe with gratitude and deep respect.
N7 Day also features other celebrations such as a Humble Bundle of Mass Effect and Dragon Age comics, new items in BioWare's merchandise store, statues inspired by Mass Effect characters, and more. However, BioWare is facing controversy this N7 Day due to a strike by unionized workers from Keywords who were previously laid off by BioWare earlier in the year, with picketing taking place outside BioWare's Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, office.
The new Mass Effect game, sometimes referred to as Mass Effect 5, was initially announced at the 2020 Game Awards.
