While the specific reason for the incident is unverified, the disgruntled customer claims that his electric scooter unexpectedly accelerated while in motion, posing a safety risk.
He also alleged manufacturer negligence and accused the company of causing harm to customers intentionally.
Ola is not new to controversies. In addition to reported fire incidents and technical malfunctions, customers have in the past raised concerns about safety issues related to a software bug causing sudden reverse acceleration of the scooter.
Despite these challenges, the Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer continues to lead electric scooter sales in India, capitalizing on the growing popularity of the segment each month.
Although there was a temporary sales slowdown earlier in the year due to reduced FAME-II subsidies, EV two-wheeler sales have rebounded, experiencing significant growth in anticipation of the ongoing festive season. Ola Electric currently offers the second-generation S1 Pro, S1 Air, and the recently launched affordable model, the S1X, in the Indian market.
