Hyderabad, a heated altercation over an extra serving of 'raita' at a popular biryani eatery took a grim turn, resulting in the untimely demise of a 32-year-old businessman on Sunday. This unfortunate scuffle also stirred mild tension in the vicinity.
The victim, identified as Mohammed Liyaqat, hailing from Chandrayangutta and engaged in the pre-owned vehicles business, collapsed within the premises of Panjagutta police station.
He was brought there in the company of his friends and several of the individuals involved in the altercation. Regrettably, Liyaqat was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital, marking the somber hour of 12:30 am on Monday.
Criticism has arisen regarding the police's handling of the situation, as Liyaqat's family accuses them of neglecting to promptly transfer him to a medical facility following the altercation.
Instead, he was taken to the police station at approximately 11:45 pm on Sunday.
Liyaqat and his friend allegedly slapped one of Meridian Restaurant's waiters for responding angrily when they asked for extra 'raita' with their biryani. The remainder of the restaurant personnel then came to the waiter's aid, which resulted in a brawl between the two groups.
Panjagutta police officers were swiftly alerted and rushed to the scene, but the confrontation persisted.
Eventually, law enforcement managed to disperse most of the individuals involved, escorting seven individuals, including Liyaqat, his three friends, and certain restaurant staff members, to the police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Joel Davis said, «The victim had no external injuries. He appeared to be normal at the police station as both groups were trying to reach a compromise.
