Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections occurred on February 5, with results declared on February 8. The BJP had stuck to its frequently followed game plan of not naming a chief minister before the polls. The BJP achieved a major victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats.
This election primarily was a direct contest between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which managed to win only 22 seats this time around. Key figures from AAP, such as Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Satyendra Jain, faced defeat in their respective constituencies.
The saffron party wrested the national capital after 27 years, winning 48 of the 70 Assembly seats and unseating incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) top brass, including founding members Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain.
Results declared on February 8 tightened BJP’s grip over national politics as it secured a major electoral victory in Delhi, extending its power in the northern region, where it already controls the neighbouring states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
