Nitesh Rane on Thursday asked real estate brokers to take an oath that they would not deal with non-Hindus and to check Aadhaar cards before making any property deals.
Rane was addressing a gathering as part of his visit to a Ganesh pandal puja.
After Rane's remark, the AIMIM started protests and said that the remarks were against the secular fabric of the country and his words were against the Constitution.
Not just the Opposition, NCP who is in coalition with BJP in Maharashtra has reportedly taken a stand against the remarks of Rane. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday said certain individuals from a party were making «objectionable» remarks targeting a specific community and asserted the NCP strongly opposes such language. Addressing a gathering in Chakan, deputy CM Pawar said, «Today, certain individuals from a political party use denigrating language targeting a particular community and religion. We do not support such language and we strongly oppose it. This kind of objectionable language creates rift in society.»
Rane's remark came days after he said in a speech that anyone harming a Hindu seer, Ramgiri Maharaj, would be served in kind. FIRs were filed against him at various police stations after the video of the speech went viral.
