Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closing in August 2025; here’s why
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is set to temporarily close one of its long-standing attractions this summer for a major overhaul. The famed Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will go dark in August and officials predict its rebuilding will finish in the following year.
The enhancements to the ride experience will not be limited to basic maintenance, according to Michael Hundgen, who serves as creative portfolio executive producer at Walt Disney Imagineering. The maintenance work includes more than the original minimal operation. The enhancement stands as a cheerful makeover to this legendary ride, according to him.
Upgraded blasters and enhanced gameplay
Professionals predict that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will receive handheld blasters as a premier update. The equipment modification enhances aiming precision to give guests, both young and old, better accuracy when they target and earn points. The updated blasters will provide improved lighting functions and sound and vibration responses that instantly notify riders when they strike their objectives.
Improving the ride with new updates was initiated with a play test, according to Disney Imagineers, to guarantee that riders experience a more immersive and engaging ride experience. Project creative director Justin DeTolla expressed that both guests and his team had an incredible time during the testing phase. When the planned reality met live action, it presented an outstanding moment of achievement.
