“When we hired an app developer for our startup, he asked us, “How can I trust you to pay me?” At first, we found it a strange question and didn’t know how to respond. He was a fresher with no prior experience, but he had a valid point. Startups come with uncertainties..” he explained.
He went on to elaborate how startups don’t guarantee job stability but can offer a lot of perks such as lots of learning opportunities, a chase to try to various roles etc.
“Startups are for people who are motivated by the vision of the idea and eager to learn the foundations of starting and scaling a company.
That’s when we realized he wasn’t the right fit for us. He was focused more on money than on the learning and experience he could gain. So, we decided not to hire him,” he wrote.
Kasera ended his note on advising new graduates to focus on building skills rather than fret about paycheck. “The money will follow later,” he shared.
Kasera was berated by several LinkedIn users for his thoughtless take. His post was shared by a Reddit user on the popular subreddit Linkedin Lunatics.
