Naidu, who has been chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh, is seriously thinking of expanding his base in Telangana, sources told ET, adding that Naidu has decided to dissolve all existing committees and kickstart a membership drive in Telangana.
Following his arrest, Naidu had decided against contesting Telangana Assembly elections in October 2023, and later parliamentary elections in 2024. In October 2023, Telangana TDP (TTDP) president Kasani Gnaneshwar resigned after this decision and joined Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The party had been preparing to contest elections for a year.
A senior party functionary told ET, “Now the chief minister wants to revive the party in Telangana and test electoral waters with local body elections.” Naidu has decided to visit Telangana and hold party meetings on every second weekend of the month.
