However, the landing date may change based on the sunrise on the moon. Due to any reason, if the Chandrayaan-3 landing gets delayed, then it will be scheduled for the next month in September, said S. Somanath, ISRO chief.
"On July 14 at 2.35 pm, Chandrayaan-3 will lift off and if everything goes well, it will land (on the moon) on August 23...the date is decided based on when is the sunrise on the moon, it will depend on the calculations, but if it gets delayed then we will have to keep the landing for the next month in September," he said. It is the third installment of the Chandrayaan series. It is India's second attempt at a successful soft landing on the Moon's surface. Till now, only three countries have successfully landed spacecraft on the airless lunar world.
Ahead of the launch of Chandrayaan 3, a unique launch will take place at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. The book named ‘Prism: The Ancestral Abode of Rainbow’ will be launched on July 13. The book is a collection of science articles and is authored by the award-winning filmmaker-writer Vinod Mankara.
