job market in doldrums? That’s what Kartik Mandeville, the CEO of an IT startup Springworks, was left wondering after he received over 12,000 resumes in a span of 48 hours, for some remote job roles. Taking to Twitter, the entrepreneur wrote, “ Received over 3K resumes in the last 48 hours just on our website — how bad is the job market?”. He further went on to add that the job postings were not shared on any popular job portals such as LinkedIn, Naukri, and Glassdoor but were only shared on the company website.
He revealed, that he had received thousands of more applications since the post went viral on the microblogging platform. The post gained 171K views and 793 likes. One Twitter user inquired what roles were up for grabs, to which the entrepreneur revealed this included product, founder’s office, and software engineer.
One Twitter user quipped that the only reason he has been overflooded with so many resumes was because of the remote job offerings, implying that on-site jobs would not have been met with such an enthusiastic response. “Probably due to more people looking for remote work,@kar2905 .......I am also looking for remote work in the Software QA field ......do you have any vacancies?????? if yes please let me know.” Another comment revealed just how grim the Indian job market is. “Pretty Bad.
