Chennai and nearby districts, including Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpet, are likely to receive significant rainfall, estimated between 6 cm and 12 cm over isolated areas within a 24-hour period, up to November 15. The rainfall is expected to intensify due to a low-pressure area forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal, which is forecasted to move towards Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka in the next few days.
«For the next 48 hours, the city and the suburbs may receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over some areas. Skies may be partly cloudy. Maximum temperature is likely to be around 32°C-33°C and minimum temperature is likely to be around 25°C,» an IMD bulletin stated.
