Chicago Bears have rejected rumors of FBI raids on its facilities following the resignation of Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams. Brandon Faber, Vice President of Communications for the Bears has claimed that there has been no raid. The Bears have also shared the personal resignation statement of Williams. In his resignation letter, the defense coordinator said that he was resigning for health and family reasons.
Rejecting the rumors on social media sites as «offensive and one hundred percent untrue», Andrew M. Stroth, Williams' personal attorney said that Coach Williams resigned because of personal health challenges and family issues. He also made it clear that there was no raid on Halas Hall or his home.
Besides, a Lake Forest police official told local media that he was not aware of any activity involving local law enforcement at Halas Hall on Wednesday.
Speculations flooded social media sites on Wednesday evening when several social media accounts alleged that the FBI had raided the Bears' practice facility, Halas Hall, and Williams' home.
The rumors of the FBI raid started with a tweet from a football aggregation account. It was found to be untrue.
Earlier Head Coach Matt Eberflus informed the team members ahead of the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday that Williams would be out for 'personal reasons'. Williams has coaching experience of more than three decades and he has worked with the Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions. But, he is only two games into his second season with the Bears.
According to both Stroth and Williams’ resignation statement, he intends to return to
