Haryana, which started on July 5, is causing a revenue loss of Rs 50 crore per day to Gurugram and Rs 200 crore daily for the entire state. As per a ToI report, Gurgaon alone has suffered earnings losses of approximately Rs 750 crore since the start of strike. Ordinarily, the district generates a revenue of about Rs 30-35 crore daily from property registries, with the remaining revenue derived from vehicle registrations, stamp duty, excise duty, and other sources.
The strike has severely affected several government departments, paralyzing essential functions such as property registries, property mutation documents, land-related documents, vehicle registration, and driving license processing, all of which are typically handled by clerks who utilize their specific login-IDs for online paperwork completion. Numerous property owners and residents, who rely on district administration offices for daily paperwork, have been left empty-handed as the strike continues. Additionally, there are cases of individuals traveling from other towns explicitly for documentation purposes.
Sukriti Sharma, who works in Bangalore, told ToI that she visited Gurgaon this month to sell her property. However, her plans were thwarted as she waited four days for the strike to end, only to realize that the strike was far from over. Frustrated, she had to return to Bangalore, leaving her property matters unresolved.
