Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025 to Mumbai and Ahmedabad this January. As anticipation builds for the band’s long-awaited performances, hotel rates in both cities have surged. In Ahmedabad, one hotel has even threatened to cancel bookings unless guests agree to pay the inflated prices.
A guest who had reserved a stay at Itsy Hotels Shree Krishna Palace in Ahmedabad from January 24 to 26 was taken aback when the hotel requested that he pay the increased rates to maintain his reservation. The hotel, eager to host the guest, informed him that he would need to pay an «adjusted rate» exceeding Rs 10,000 due to «market conditions» resulting from the Coldplay concert.
“All in for capitalism but asking increased rate for a booked stay. That’s new," wrote Ashish Singh on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The message from the hotel stated: “Coldplay will be performing in Ahmedabad on January 25th & 26th, 2025, and with the city buzzing with excitement, hotel demand has skyrocketed. As a result, we can no longer honor your reservation at the original rates and need to adjust it accordingly.”
The hotel offered a complimentary meal as a goodwill gesture if the guest chose to proceed with the booking.
In a similar instance, another hotel in Ahmedabad canceled a booking for a one-night stay priced at Rs 1,800, citing the Coldplay concert as the reason.
