In the midst of talk of 90-hour work weeks and toxic work culture affecting employee health, a clutch of companies like Accenture, Wells Fargo, Zomato, Publicis Sapient, and Adobe are stepping up their commitment to corporate health programmes, by encouraging more physical activity through step challenges, running health awareness campaigns and preventive checks, introducing infinite wellness leaves, setting up in-house fitness centres, onsite clinics and Zen spaces, as well as focusing on mental and emotional well-being.
The priority is a more holistic approach to employee well-being rather than merely focusing on the physical aspect. Executives ET spoke to said such programmes not only help build a more supportive workplace, but also boost productivity and reduce absenteeism and attrition.
Earlier this month, Zomato set up a fitness centre in Gurgaon, which the company says is used by 300 employees per day, and has an in-house wellness team of 15 professionals, including counsellors and trainers.
The centre, set up in partnership with The Wellness Co, offers new-age therapies like hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, and an infrared sauna.
