Karnataka's Congress government on Sunday in a rally in Belagavi, saying it has bowed to the pressure of appeasement politics instead of giving justice to the family of Neha Hiremath, the young student murdered in her college in Hubballi two weeks ago. Neha, the daughter of Congress Councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Niranjan Hiremath, was stabbed to death on the campus by accused Fayaz Khondunaik. The BJP has been cornering the ruling Congress on the issue, taking the ‘Love Jihad’ angle.
“What happened with our daughter in a college campus in Hubli shook the entire nation. They don't value the lives of our daughters like Neha. All they care about is their vote bank…ever since the Congress government came to Karnataka, the situation of law and order in the entire state has deteriorated significantly,” the PM said.
He also accused the Congress of apathy in the case of the Rameshwaram cafe blast in Bengaluru in March, saying the government had “failed to show seriousness initially.” The Congress, he added, used terrorist organizations like PFI for votes in elections and defended its actions.
