Congress’ failure to translate the caste census issue into electoral dividends in the assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
BJP’s good show in the three states has apparently posed a new challenge for these parties that were planning to bank on this issue for their electoral gains in the coming 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Most of the leaders of these political parties are now desperately waiting for the Congress party’s future stand on the caste census issue. They fear that the Congress may have a relook at this issue in the new situation emerging post announcement of the poll results.
Most of the leaders, associated with these parties, said the demand for caste census can’t become a national issue without support from the Congress.
They feel that people vote on national issues in the Lok Sabha polls as has been the trend since 2014.
