assembly elections, the party leadership has been approached for pre-poll admission by many restive functionaries of the Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and the Aam Admi Party's Haryana unit, it is learnt.
Among the JJP functionaries who have approached senior Haryana Congress leaders, and through them the AICC functionaries, include a couple of outgoing MLAs. These legislators, while seeking admission in the Congress, also requested for party tickets for them or their relatives.
«The Congress party will consider admitting those JJP and AAP functionaries who can play a productive role by accepting the Congress ideology and approach. People from other parties join Congress without conditions and our leadership decides their roles. Already, the Congress has received applications for about 2,500 ticket aspirants,» said a senior Congress leader.
The unease within both the JJP and Haryana AAP unit are no secret given both parties have been left without any alliance with the two major parties of the state. While JJP's estranged ally BJP is no more interested in realigning with the Dushyant Chautala-led party, the Congress has already announced its decision not to have a tie-up with AAP in the assembly polls after their unproductive pact during the LS polls.
The outreach of some JJP and AAP functionaries to the Haryana Congress comes at a time when state Congress leaders are projecting the upcoming assembly polls as a direct BJP versus Congress fight and have been urging voters to shun 'vote-cutter'
