Police resorted to baton charge to disperse the crowd. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the police to file a case against Rahul Gandhi.
Congress said Gandhi was supposed to hold an interaction with students at USTM university along the Assam-Meghalaya border. But this was revoked after the Union home minister's intervention, the party alleged.
The rally was denied permission to enter the main city. Reacting to this, Gandhi said, «This is the same route Bajrang Dal walked, (BJP chief) Nadda ji's rally was taken out at the same place.
There was a barricade. We threw the barricade, but we will not break the law. Don't think we are weak, it's the power of Congress workers.»

He said that after the Lok Sabha elections, police will arrest Rahul Gandhi.
