Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam on Wednesday said his old party will be out at zero in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
In a post on social media platform X, Nirupam said, “In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Congress won two seats in Maharashtra. In 2019, the party won one seat. This time, Ubatha has given Congress seats like alms. According to this calculation, Congress will be out at zero in 2024.”
“That's why many leaders have become non-reachable by mobile. After June 4, they will all start hiding. Foreign trips on a large scale may also be arranged,” he added in his post.
Nirupam earlier claimed that the grand old party had expelled him soon after he tendered his resignation.
«Congress party is a completely scattered party and the leaders of the party have also said that its ideology is directionless,» he had said.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had approved the expulsion of Sanjay Nirupam for a period of six years following complaints of indiscipline and making anti-party statements.
Congress had removed his name from the list of star campaigners due to his recent remarks against the INDIA bloc partner, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), regarding seat-sharing for the Lok Sabha election.
