Billboard, Maren Morris, the well-known singer-songwriter, has filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Ryan Hurd. The legal complaint, filed on October 2 in Tennessee state court, cited «irreconcilable differences» as the reason for the separation.
The court documents also revealed that the couple had previously signed a prenuptial agreement, which will govern the division of their assets.
With a three-year-old son named Hayes, the pair will be submitting a «permanent parenting plan» for court approval, with Morris requesting child support.
Both Morris and Hurd, who initially started dating in 2015 and got married in March 2018 in Nashville, have collaborated on various musical projects. This includes their 2021 duet "Chasing After You," which achieved notable success on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
They have also co-written several songs together, such as «Circles Around This Town» and «The Furthest Thing» from Morris' 2022 album Humble Quest.
Hurd publicly supported Morris during a disagreement with Jason Aldean's wife, Brittany Aldean, last year, where Morris advocated for gender-affirming care. Additionally, he backed Morris's decision to step away from the country music industry, expressing his admiration for her on social media.
Billboard has reached out to both Morris and Hurd for further comments on the matter.
