Cruises on the Yamuna, green belts from landfills, and no waterlogging: What Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has planned for the city
BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh, Rekha Gupta, who recently became Delhi’s fourth woman Chief Minister and the second woman CM from the BJP, spoke about her plans for the city at the India Today Conclave. CM Gupta on Friday, highlighted key projects her government is working on to improve Delhi’s environment, water management, and infrastructure.
Landfills to green belts
Gupta promised to turn Delhi’s massive landfills into green belts. These garbage dumps have been a major problem for years, and her government aims to clean them up and replace them with parks and greenery.
A clean Yamuna with cruises
She also spoke about cleaning the Yamuna River to such an extent that it could have cruise boats, similar to the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
No waterlogging this year
Every monsoon, waterlogging causes major issues in Delhi. However, Gupta assured that her government is taking strong steps to prevent this problem before the rains arrive.
No water scarcity in summer
Delhi often faces water shortages during summer. Gupta promised that her government will ensure a steady supply of water, so people do not suffer from water cuts or lack of access.
