Haldwani on July 15 initially appeared to be a tragic case of death due to asphyxiation. However, as the investigation progressed, it revealed a chilling and well-planned murder plot, leaving any Bollywood potboiler in the shadows. The body of Chauhan, a resident of Rambagh Colony, Rampur Road in Uttarakhand, was found on the backseat of his car.
Police found that carbon monoxide was emanating from the car's AC, which they suspected to have led to the businessman's death. Authorities uncovered that Chauhan's death was no accident; it was a sinister act orchestrated by his own girlfriend, Mahi Arya. Post-mortem results shockingly revealed that snake venom was the cause of his demise, despite carbon monoxide being initially suspected.
As detectives delved deeper into the case, they scrutinized CCTV footage and call records, leading them to Mahi Arya. Chauhan's grieving sister, Isha, filed a report, accusing Mahi and her friend, Deep Kandpal, of plotting the murder. Further investigation unveiled a snake charmer, Ramesh Nath, who confessed that Mahi had approached him, seeking his help to make the killing look like an accident.
