Delhi lieutenant-governor on Monday red-flagged to the Ministry of Home Affairs the «lack of seriousness» and «insensitivity» of Delhi ministers towards people-centric governance issues.
L-G VK Saxena shot off a letter to the home ministry pointing out that AAP ministers — Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot and Atishi — have been refusing to attend meetings called by him on issues relating to health infrastructure and summer action plan.
According to L-G Secretariat sources, Saxena had sought meetings with the ministers twice on March 29 and April 2. «An intimation was accordingly sent to Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bharadwaj for a meeting by the Lt Governor on 02.04.2024. However, all the ministers have vide emails declined to attend the said meeting on the specious ground that since the model code of conduct is in force, such a meeting would not be appropriate at this stage,» the letter says adding, «Hon'ble Lt Governor believes that a consultation of this nature was warranted so that routine works of governance are not hampered, in the backdrop of the arrest and detention of the chief minister.»
As per sources, Bharadwaj sent a text to the Secretariat that read, «We wanted the agenda for this meeting with Hon'ble LG… I do not think a meeting can be called without directions of the Hon'ble CM. Please convey.»
