Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appealed to the voters to support and vote for the seven candidates of the AAP-Congress alliance in the national capital.
«I appeal to you to vote for the Congress 'hand' in three seats and for the AAP's 'broom' in four seats. It's interesting that I'll vote for AAP and Arvind Kejriwal will vote for Congress in these elections,» he said,' Gandhi said addressing a Congress rally' at Chandni Chowk here on Saturday night. While the Congress leaders, particularly of Delhi, flanked Gandhi on the stage, top AAP leaders including CM Arvind Kejriwal were not present but about half a dozen AAP MLAs of Delhi joined Gandhi on the podium.
During his speech Gandhi showcased the Congress guarantees including the promise to pay Rs one lakh per year to a woman member of every poor family, the promise to provide jobs and apprenticeships to the youth, and scrap the Agniveer scheme. Holding a copy of the Constitution, Gandhi said; «Our goal is to protect this Constitution...BJP and PM Modi want. to change the Constitution… So, our first work is to safeguard this Constitution because this is your future, your dream and the voice of your heart...».
Gandhi repeatedly targeted PM Modi, accusing him of working for a few industrialists such as Adani and Ambani, making the lives of the poor difficult through high GST rates and demonetisation.
