cold weather conditions, the Delhi Government on Sunday announced that schools in the national capital will remain closed till January 12 for Nursery to class 5.
Minister Atishi announced the same on X.
«Schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 5 days due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, for students from Nursery to Class 5,» she said.
Earlier, t he Delhi government revoked a recently issued order that extended the winter vacation period for schools across the national capital.
The Department of Education clarified that the earlier decision to prolong the winter break was a mistake. Consequently, the order has been promptly withdrawn, with an expectation for a resolution on the matter by tomorrow morning.
The previous directive by the Delhi government had elongated the winter break until January 10 for all government-aided and unaided recognized private schools in the national capital territory (NCT), citing severe cold waves and an IMD 'yellow alert'.

Maximum temperatures across North India's plains were recorded between 12-18 degrees Celsius, significantly deviating from the typical range for this season.
Meanwhile, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration on Saturday had instructed all schools in Noida and Greater Noida to declare holidays for students up to Class 8 until January 14.
