Diablo IV, a highly anticipated game of the year, is set to make its debut on Steam on October 17th, marking a significant expansion for the hellish RPG. The announcement was uncovered by Wario64, a prominent source for video game news and deals, who spotted a Steam listing for the game.
Previously, the PC version of Diablo IV was exclusively available on Blizzard's proprietary Battle.net service.
This move to bring Diablo IV to Steam aligns with Blizzard's strategy to reach a broader audience of PC gamers. Earlier this year, Blizzard introduced Overwatch 2 on Steam, and they have expressed their intention to make more of their games available on the platform in the future.
However, they have yet to disclose which games will follow or their release dates.
Overwatch 2's debut on Steam received mixed reviews, with an «overwhelmingly negative» score stemming from player dissatisfaction with the introduction of a battle pass and the cancellation of content.
Diablo IV, which was released in June of this year, is expected to have a smoother transition to Steam, as it received generally positive feedback upon its initial launch.
Overwatch 2's upcoming season, known as «Rise of Darkness,» is scheduled to commence on October 10, and it appears to include a crossover event with Blizzard's Diablo IV, perfectly timed for Halloween.
A brief teaser has been released, showcasing what seems to be a Moira character skin inspired by Diablo IV's main antagonist, Lilith. Additionally, players can anticipate an eerie rendition of the Blizzard World map, along with an updated version of Overwatch's Halloween PvE event mode, Junkenstein's Revenge.
