New York City Police Department is ramping up security outside Madison Square Garden, where former President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally on Sunday. NYPD officials have outlined strict security measures, including the closure of several streets around the arena to ensure a safe environment for rally attendees, protesters, and city residents. Interim Police Commissioner Thomas Donlon confirmed the NYPD’s preparedness late Saturday, joining Mayor Eric Adams to discuss protocols for the event.
“We are doing everything possible to minimize impact on New Yorkers,” Donlon stated, while advising residents to avoid the area if they do not need to be there. He assured, “Tomorrow’s rally will be safe, it will be secure.”
Street closures around Madison Square Garden will begin early Sunday morning. The following streets will be closed to both vehicle and foot traffic:
