Donald Trump says will attempt to end birthright US citizenship
Donald Trump confirmed his intention to deport all undocumented immigrants from the United States in an interview with NBC's «Meet the Press» aired Sunday. He also stated his plan to end birthright citizenship.
When asked about deporting all undocumented immigrants during his upcoming term, Trump responded, «You have to do it.» He reiterated this commitment later in the interview, saying, «We’re starting with the criminals, and we’ve got to do it.» He acknowledged the logistical challenges involved.
Trump also said he would end birthright citizenship. «If we can, through executive action,» he stated, calling the policy «ridiculous.» He suggested he might use executive action on his first day but also mentioned the possibility of a constitutional amendment. “We have to end it,” Trump said.
While confirming his hardline stance on deportations and birthright citizenship, Trump indicated a willingness to negotiate with Democrats on a legislative solution for «Dreamers,» immigrants brought to the US illegally as children.
