Putin has not yet commented on Trump's election win but is due to speak and take questions at a conference later on Thursday. The Kremlin reacted cautiously on Wednesday after Trump was elected U.S. president, saying the U.S. was still an unfriendly state and that only time would tell if Trump's rhetoric on ending the Ukraine war translated into reality.
Russia on Wednesday said President Vladimir Putin remained open to engaging in a «constructive dialogue» with the US, asserting that the future of Washington-Moscow relations depends on the American administration. The remarks by Krelim spokesperson Dmitry Peskov came after 78-year-old Republican leader Trump defeated his Democratic rival Vice President Kamala Harris in a bitterly fought election.
