A video from Tamil Nadu's landslide-affected regions has gone viral, showing drones airdropping food for stranded dogs.
According to the report, the dogs were trapped near the Mettur dam. The pack of seven dogs had been stuck in the area for three days without food, the report added.
Fire services personnel are also trying to rescue the dogs using drones.
Kerala Using Drones for Landslide Relief Work
Meanwhile, in neighboring Kerala, drones manufactured in Noida have been deployed for relief and rescue operations.
According to the report, the drones are manufactured by Noida-based QuickPay Pvt Ltd. Called DIBODS — Drone-based Intelligent Buried Object Detection System — these drones are equipped to pick up heat signatures up to a depth of 30 meters in soil and water, the company's founder, Rajib Roy, told TOI.
The drones are being used in areas abutting the Chaliyar river in Malappuram to recover bodies of landslide victims washed downstream by the swollen Iruvanjipuzha river near the disaster zone.
The drones have in-built deep subsoil scanner technology and can help pinpoint any survivors trapped in the debris. They can operate under adverse conditions and detect buried objects such as weapons caches, mines, tunnels, bodies, and other foreign objects up to a depth of 30 meters in both soil and water while hovering at 1.5m above the ground.
The drones essentially capture heat signatures and then map out a specific perimeter.
Authorities are also using drones to transport food packets to regions that
