According to Benziga, this access was approved by the present Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent shortly before the resignation of David Lebryk who was a career official and also opposed the involvement of DOGE. The situation has reportedly raised severe alarms among the Democratic lawmakers which included the renowned Senator Elizabeth Warren and who ended up describing Tesla CEO Elon Musk's influence as ‘extraordinarily dangerous’ and eventually criticized the transfer of sensitive data to an unelected billionaire.
