The launch is scheduled to take place from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, at 7:17 PM EST on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
During the launch, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will carry the lander, while NASA will begin coverage from 6:32 PM EST.
According to a Forbes report, the Athena lander will travel through space for at least a week before arriving at Mons Mouton — a plateau near the Moon’s south pole — on March 6. On the first day after landing, the lander will begin its mission, which includes analysing the lunar surface, searching for water deposits and testing new communication technologies.
