The maker of Dermicool and BoroPlus grew domestic business by 2.6%. The company said the quarter was hit by persistent high food inflation, which affected mass consumer spending. Globally, political unrest in markets like Bangladesh too caused temporary disruptions.
The company stated 2.6% growth in domestic net sales in value and 1.7% in volume.
India's retail inflation rose to a nine-month high in September due to higher food prices. Food inflation, which has been a persistent challenge for the last few quarters, rose 9.24% annually in September as compared to 5.66% in August. The government data for October is not yet out.
Leading consumer goods manufacturers such as Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Nestle have flagged the high inflation as a cause of concern with urban demand significantly slowing down last month.
