Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy is leading against Chief Minister and BRS leader K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) in Kamareddy constituency even as early leads suggest the Congress is all set to wrest control of the state from KCR's BRS which has been in power since 2014. The Congress had won 19 seats in 2014 and 21 seats in 2019 in the 119-seat assembly.

If the Congress wins Telangana, which seems most likely now, it will be a significant victory for the party not just for ruling one more state but also for snatching a state back from a regional party. This will be quite a feat for the party which has rarely ruled a state after a regional party's win, be it in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha or West Bengal.
The victory will also project the Congress' power in South India where the BJP is struggling to advance after it struck roots in Karnataka.
The man behind this feat will be Revanth Reddy, who will emerge from being an embattled state leader to a giant slayer and the star of this poll season.
