Euro Cup 2024 has seen some interesting rules set by UEFA before the start of the championship earlier. As a result, once the prestigious tournament ended, England's Harry Kane ended up sharing his Golden Boot trophy with five other players who were also the top goal scorers in the entire tournament. This was rather due to a bizarre rule set by UEFA that suggests the highest goal scorers across the tournament will receive the Golden Boot, and if there are more than one player in this list, they will be sharing this award.
England lost to Spain by a margin of one goal in the Euro Cup 2024 finals, which meant that the road to England securing a major international trophy ended yet again in a heartbreaking manner. Harry Kane, however, will have to stay consoled with this Golden Boot achievement for his services to the team throughout the championship which saw him scoring 3 goals, including a crucial penalty in the semi-finals against Netherlands. Although, the penalty was deemed as controversial due to the new UEFA rules, Kane still managed to convert it into a goal and equalized the game for England, when they were falling behind in the first half of the semis.
Kane managed to score 3 goals, but could not manage an assist for his team, but that did not stop him from receiving the Golden Boot honor alongside five other players. The five others who received this honor alongside Kane are Dani Olmo, Cody Gakpo, Georges Mikautadze, Jamal Musiala, and Ivan Schranz, all of whom scored three goals apiece.
