Other popular trusts across all platforms this year have been BlackRock World Mining, Alliance Trust, Fidelity European and Merchants. After a series of mergers, JPMorgan Global Growth & Income is also becoming a more frequent presence high in the rankings.
When it comes to trusts focused on alternative assets, which represent 75% of new issuance over the last decade, retail investors typically paid more attention to equity strategies like BlackRock World Mining and TR Property, as well as technology and defensive multi-asset investment trusts.

Top ten most bought lists have had sporadic entries from private equity trusts, such as 3i Group or HgCapital, as well as Pershing Square, but renewable energy trusts, particularly Greencoat UK Wind and The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG), feature regularly.
In August, the top ten most bought lists across Fidelity, AJ Bell and interactive investor featured what Numis described as the «usual suspects» — Scottish Mortgage, City of London and F&C IT — with JPM Global G&I cementing its place amongst the most popular across platforms.
