Under her leadership, Conserve has worked in the promotion of energy efficiency, waste management, upcycling, skill-training and food security. She has pioneered Handmade Recycled Plastic (HRP), a means to upcycled low-density polythene into a high-fashion material. Over the last two and a half decades, Conserve India has been making export-quality products like crochet pouches, shoulder bags, and crochet handbags by reusing plastic waste, which are now exported globally resulting in upcycling of over 5,000 tonnes of plastic waste, with a turnover of Rs. 100 crore. Conserve India steered a social campaign called Recognition for Rag Pickers. By providing Conserve Employee Cards, Conserve India supports the marginalised population of garbage collectors to have a voice in the society. As a part of the campaign, Conserve India is rallying for fair wages for rag pickers. Ahuja’s social-impact enterprise works towards solving an environmental hazard alongside serving a marginalised section of society.
