ECJ that UEFA and FIFA have no right to block it, has led to the expectations surrounding a new European Super League, being revived.
According to the ECJ ruling on Thursday, the two regulatory bodies have breached the European Competition law at the time they have put a prevention on the initial plans in the year 2021.
According to the judges, UEFA and FIFA have also taken advantage of their dominance in football when they have threatened to penalize teams who have taken part in it.
The organisation which is behind the proposals for the league, A22 Sports Management, has now reannounced its bid, after claiming that they have attended to extensive criticism of its original proposals.
In the year 2021, a bid for a new 12-team ESL was launched by A22 Sports, which included Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham.
It stirred widespread criticism from domestic teams, FIFA, and UEFA, as well as fans giving a warning that it will be focusing only on the richest clubs, destroying lower league and grassroots level football because of financial gains.
Champions League and other European competitions need the clubs to qualify via domestic league placements every year, however, under the earlier ESL plan the participation of the teams along with the revenue associated with it will be directed solely for the largest clubs existing in Europe.
This would have led to playing more matches against the European competitors without sharing TV revenue with the clubs who are smaller and compete in the currently held European competitions.
