Ex-North Korean soldier claims families of captured troops in Ukraine face execution in shocking interview
North Korean soldiers captured in Ukraine may face tough situation
According to the former soldier, many soldiers will kill themselves before they are captured by the enemy as 'there is no big shame than that'.
According to a GMA report, nearly 12,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed to fight against Ukraine by North Korea, and war experts are also claiming that Russian forces have used North Korean weapons in the ongoing war along with the troops from Pyongyang. Around 300 North Korean soldiers have already died fighting in this war, and nearly 2,700 have been wounded, as per a statement by South Korea's spy agency.
Families could bear the brunt
According to another defector, if soldiers are captured and reveal information to the enemy, their families could face punishment, be sent to political prison camps, or even be executed publicly as an example, says the GMA report. Meanwhile, North Korean soldiers may be facing trouble with modern battlefield technology used by Westerners, with recent videos showing that attack drones are becoming a huge headache for North Korean soldiers.
