Farmers to march from Noida to Delhi on Monday, says leader Sukhbir Khalifa
Sukhbir Khalifa has announced that farmers are set to march towards Delhi on December 2. Speaking about the protest, he told news agency ANI, “We are ready for our march towards Delhi. Tomorrow, on December 2, we will start our march towards Delhi from under the Maha Maya flyover. At 12 pm, all of us will reach there… and demand our compensation and benefits as per the new laws…”
The farmers have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points since February 13, fighting for their rights and demands. Their earlier attempts to march towards Delhi on February 13 and February 21 were stopped by security forces stationed at the capital’s borders.
What are the farmers demanding?
The protesting farmers are asking for a range of issues to be addressed, including:
- A legal guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
- Waiver of farm loans.
- Pension schemes for farmers and farm labourers.
- No increase in electricity tariffs.
- Withdrawal of police cases filed against farmers.
- Justice for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
- Reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013.
- Compensation for families of farmers who died during the 2020-21 agitation.
