FC Barcelona eying Lionel Messi's return after 2026 FIFA World Cup: All you need to know
Lionel Messi bid adieu to Barcelona. However, he might be having an unfinished business with the La Liga club, which is now eying to sign its greatest-ever player back to the side.
Messi, 37, left Barcelona in 2021 on a free transfer as the financial situation at that time prevented the highly popular club from renewing the Argentina star's contract.
Messi's possible return to Barcelona FC
In a report for TNT Sports Argentina, journalist Maximiliano Grillo has claimed that FC Barcelona is planning to bring Messi back to the side during the summer next year after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Argentina is heading into the tournament as the defending champion, having won the title in 2022 FIFA World Cup against France in Qatar.
The idea is to bring back Messi to the side so that he could be a part of the official re-opening of Camp Nou, home of the club for the past several decades.
